If you’re looking for some Inoles for foot pad pain, read on because we’ve just released some specially designed to eliminate pain in the area.

Foot pad pain

The popularly known as the pad of the foot is the area of the sole of the foot below the toes, one of the parts of the foot that supports your foot on the ground, apart from the heel.
This part of the foot is also known as the metatarsal area.
Therefore, most pain in the pad refers to a problem in the metatarsal area called metatarsalgia.

What is metatarsalgia?

Metatarsalgia is the pain or inflammation of the metatarsal or metatarsal area, the one we have just mentioned, popularly known as the pad area.

It is caused by compression of the nerves located between the metatarsal bones or by an overload of the metatarsal head.

If it hurts for no apparent reason and in your day to day life this part of the foot, it is possible that you suffer from metatarsalgia, although it is a pathology that will always have to be diagnosed by a medical specialist.

Symptoms of metatarsalgia

Symptoms may include severe and intense pain in the pad area, especially when walking, running or at the end of the workday.

This pain usually increases on hard surfaces or with shoes that do not have much cushioning.
You will find that if you wear sneakers or good insoles the pain decreases because your body weight does not rest on such a hard surface.
You may also have a sensation as if you have a stone in your shoe.

It is a really annoying pathology, but it improves considerably with rest and the use of appropriate cushion pain Insole.

Causes

The causes of metatarsalgia are various, and in the same person it can be due to one or several causes at the same time; it depends on your lifestyle and the activity you have in your day to day life.

The use of inappropriate footwear

The use of inadequate footwear is one of the causes that are repeated in the appearance of any foot pathology, and metatarsalgia was not going to be less.
We have been told since we were children that proper footwear is essential for good plantar health and for the correct distribution of our body weight.
When the weight distribution of our body is not done in the right way, we load or force unconsciously some or other areas of the foot.
This can then lead to pathologies such as metatarsalgia or plantar fasciitis.
For this reason, and once again, we will not tire of recommending the use of appropriate footwear throughout your life.
Do not wear heels, do not wear narrow or narrow-toed shoes.
Wear shoes wide enough so that your foot is free and comfortable and the sole is not rigid but flexible.

Overweight

Being overweight is detrimental to many aspects of general health, and also to our feet.
Being overweight means that the sole of the foot has to bear more impact than it should, thus favoring the appearance of pathologies such as metatarsalgia.

Previous pathologies or certain foot shapes

There are certain foot shapes, such as cavus or flat feet, that will cause our support and our footprint to be incorrect.
That is why in these cases we will need an insole that allows us to correct the defect in the footprint.
When we do not correctly support all the weight of our body when walking or running, it can lead to pathologies such as metatarsalgia, plantar fasciitis or heel spurs.
In the same way, having any of these pathologies in a previous form, can make that we do not make a correct support and that with it a new pathology arises in another zone of the foot.
It is really important to treat any pain in the foot with the aim of correcting the footprint and that this does not derive over time in a new pathology (and pain).

Impact sports

Impact sports such as running, soccer or basketball sometimes cause an excessive load on the metatarsal area.
The reason is because we are constantly running or jumping and therefore this area receives more weight, favoring an excessive load in the area that can lead to metatarsalgia.
If in addition we have some previous pathology for which we do not have a correct footprint, with the practice of impact sports, this can be aggravated.

Age

As we grow older, we lose fat in our body, including the fat on the sole of our feet that supports us.
Losing this volume of fat in the sole of the foot means that we have less natural cushioning and that it is easier for walking to cause discomfort or pain due to inflammation in the area.

Treatment

The treatment for metatarsalgia or pain in the pad will be different depending on how it presents itself; there are more severe cases and other milder ones.
It can go from the administration of anti-inflammatory or analgesics, to massages, or application of ice in the area to diminish the inflammation and the pain.
It will be your specialist doctor who will determine the best treatment for you.

In any case, the use of appropriate Insole, i.e., Insole for cushion pain or Insole for metatarsalgia, is also often recommended.

Insole for pain in the pad

At Smou Insole we have launched a new line of products and there is one specially designed to cover this pathology and thus eliminate the pain in the pad. This is the Smou Meta Insole, which, as its name suggests, we have manufactured to eliminate pain caused by metatarsalgia.

What makes them different from other Insole products on the market?

Well, they are latex insoles with metatarsal relief, with a unique design to promote relief and rest in the plantar pad area.

The material of construction is synthetic latex foam gel, comfortable and flexible but also durable.
They are memory foam so they will remember the shape of your foot and will gradually become almost a custom-made insole.
They have an absorbent microfiber lining, so you can wear them in summer and without socks, as they are breathable.
